Event: 2015 Shannons Sydney Spring Classic Auction
Date: 9 November 2015
Location: 65 Reserve Road, St Leonards, NSW
Ten NSW heritage number plates were offered at this auction, with all plates selling under the hammer.
As usual, the lowest number was also the highest priced, with 227 reaching an impressive $130,000. The very same plate was sold at a Shannons auction last year for $95,000, which is quite a good return.
The other stand-out was the repeating plate 4444 which sold for $81,500. This was well over guidance and also higher than the 3-digit 970 which sold for $78,000.

Ten NSW heritage number plates will be offered at this auction.
The lowest plate to be offered is 227, which has a price guide of $95 – $115,000. This same plate was sold at a Shannons auction last year, where it achieved a price of $95,000.
The only other 3-digit plate to be offered is 970. As with 227, this plate is currently privately owned and has been spotted on the road.
Although the number 4 is typically not a great number on a plate, the 4-digit plate 4444 should achieve a decent price given the repeating numbers.
