Event: The Classic Plate Auction

This was the second heritage number plate auction held in NSW, and was held on behalf of the Department of Motor Transport.
113 heritage number plates were offered, with a reported 111 of them selling. The proceeds of the auction totaled $328,450
The highest priced plate was the nice 3-digit plate 900, which sold for $14,500.
Unfortunately we have very little information on which heritage plates were offered or how much they sold for.

82 4-digit plates were offered, with the numbers ranging from 1895 to 1984. These included…
- 1925 – $1,900
- 1975 – $1,900
- 1983 – $1,900
5 digit:
12 5-digit plate were offered. Each one started with ’84’ followed by another 3 digits which represented a Porsche, BMW or Mercedes-Benz model number.
