Event: 2016 Shannons Melbourne Spring Classic Auction

Fifteen Victorian heritage plates sold under the hammer at this auction, with most selling for comfortably more than the price guides.
The standouts included 20000 selling for $32,000, which is quite possibly a record price for a 5-digit at auction. 111444 at $18,000 may be a record for a 6-digit at auction too.
$39,000 was a great result for the 4-digit 6668. They are a nice set of numbers however. Less than two years ago, that this sort of money would have bought a 3-digit.
$81,000 for 720 was also a very strong result for a relatively high number without any repeating or consecutive digits.
For the bargain hunters, 9333 at $14,000 seemed like great buying. Only a single bidder saw any value in this one.
